If you are planning to do some Island hopping from the Dominican Republic to Antigue it might be a good idea to avoid using LIAT Airlines for now. The pilots strike is causing flights to be canceled leaving passengers stranded at the Dominican Airports. It was stated in a press release from LIAT that “Only a limited number of flights were able to operate from Antigua, Barbados and Trinidad.” Friday Nov 5th.
While it is reported that the passengers are being put up in a hotel until they can find another flight or the strike ends, this can put quite a kink in your travel plans wasting days of your vacation. If you are in the DR and are affected by LIAT flight cancellations you can call 1-888-844-5428 to reschedule your flight.
Meetings between LIAT and Leeward Islands Airline Pilots Association (LIALPA) continued on Wednesday the 6th with the strike continuing as of Thursday Nov 7th with passengers continuing to look for other ways to complete their travel plans.
